With the summer in full effect, there is a changing of the guard where the fishing is concerned here in SoCal. Out in the deep blue, the tuna start invading our local banks and this year might be the most incredible local tuna season in memory for even the old salts. Inshore, the White Sea Bass and Yellowtail get a reprieve with everyone shooting for the tuna. …And in the surf, Bat Rays slowly move off and get replaced with big Shovelnose Guitarfish and Leopard Sharks. The bigger model sharks are their too, but with it getting so dark late, it usually takes them longer to appear in the skinny and feed.
Here member Pinoyfisher gets in on the steady action of big Surf Tractors (Guitarfish) and even his personal best Leopard Shark. Be sure to read up on his adventures as well as the rest of the members on the forum. Get off your couch and see what the local waters have to offer. This El Nino that is forming might produce the best fishing season modern San Diego has ever seen!
