Well, the 4th of July is rapidly arriving and no better way to get some fishing in between the crowds with some light line fishing. The water is still exceptionally warm and fish are snappin’ all the micro bait in the bay right now. You never know what you are going to catch, whether it is 23 bass and a halibut in a few hour session, or catching an El Nino fish well outside of their range like Ben did recently up in Carlsbad. Ben is a species hunter and is always looking for something new to catch, no matter how small. While on a quick session up in the lagoon, he managed a Largemouth Blenny ( Labrisomus xanti) which eclipsed the furthest know location of one ever by 30+ miles! Way to go, Ben! This is the year to get your species count up, so if anyone is ever interested in doing something similar, be sure to join the forum and message Ben or any of our members who are usually a great help and asset to SoCal’s fishing community.
