Leopard Shark Beach. What a vast difference from this past spring when all of the beaches were full of Soupfin and Sevengill sharks. It’s one of those weird cycles when the leopard sharks show up at random times and are the only game in town.
They have been caught from Los Angeles to San Diego in recent weeks with little signs of any larger sharks. It also doesn’t help that lobster season has started and the waters are full of bait, chum, divers and lobster pots. Hopefully this rings the dinner bell for the larger sharks and we have a changing of the guard soon. I’m not saying big leopard sharks are not any fun, but the sweet autumn winds are hinting that the bigger sharks will soon be upon us and it will be time to start adding to the Specialty Shark List again!
