BoYak fishing
« on: May 27, 2021, 12:23:32 PM »
Been taking the Saturn BoYak out (they call them KaBoats but BoYak sounds better) and just getting a feel for it. The Threshers are inshore and biting from SD to Malibu right now and all you need to do is find the bait and pin one on. Took me 3 tries to figure out what they wanted (usually smaller baits, smaller hooks) but in 5 trips i got 4 bites and two T’s to the boat. Kept one for the grill.

Now that I’ve got them out of my system I’m going to chase some yellowtail and figure out a support rail so I can stand and toss irons and poppers, although I’ve never caught a yellow that way it might be beneficial to have.

If you’re having a hard time finding bait look for the current breaks close to
Shore. Been finding the bigger Macks just outside the surf and micro Mack’s further out but I hear they’re spotty at the piers.

I hate the pronunciation “kah-boat” but “Kay-boat” sounds alright. What size motor did you put on it?

Sounds like cool trips, I’ll have to try the thresher bite soon. Take some pics next time!

I’m borrowing a 3.5hp my 9.8 has been in the shop with an impeller on back order for over 5 weeks now. I’m getting tired of that shop telling me they just ordered it every week.

I did take pics. They’re on social media, I’ll have to log into imgr later and post some up.

Excellent Chris!  That's the way to break in the BoYak  ;D on it's first season on the water!  Can't wait to see the yellows you get on it.   8)
You can't catch them from your computer chair.
