Graveyard Shift (13NOV2018)
« on: November 14, 2018, 07:19:08 PM »
On the sand by 10:45pm. 2 bags of fresh Crystal Pier macks was the bait of choice. Pretty nice conditions. Surf starting to come up just a bit at 2-3' with some 4' in the distance. Would have preferred a higher tide, but beggars can't be choosers.

Went through both bags as the critters were in thick. Had a couple take downs, but not enough to get the clicker screaming. I did close out the night, on my last mack tail with a 28" halibut! How random is that?! It shook the rod pretty well, but still wasn't strong enough to engage the clicker. I thought I had a bat in the 20-30" range. It was a tasty surprise for sure!

Most baits came back like this

Oh yeah, Binh and I went out for our usual Thursday night session last week. Josh met up with us too. Binh was able to beat the skunk with a decent leo. Josh and I wore the stripe..

Dude!  Nice Flatty!  I've caught quite a few in the past while bat ray or shark fishing.  My biggest was while bat ray fishing with a 32" flatty on a mackerel head.  Nicely done boss!

As for Binh, I'm glad he got the leopard, but the "Where's My Beer" is planning on passing up Binh soon on the major shark list!

And fishing with Rasta Big Guns!  Nice!  I haven't seen him pop up here in a while.  I hope he is doing well.
