January critters including bonefish!
« on: January 20, 2018, 03:55:10 PM »
I'll lump a couple outings into one post.

01-15-2018

Fished the Ocean Beach tidepools at low tide.  Caught my first fish of 2018, an opalaye, and followed it with woolly sculpin, rockpool blenny, and spotted kelpfish.

Pumped ghost shrimp from Mission Bay.

Fishing Liberty Station for bonefish with Eli.  We caught 9 bonefish, 1 spotfin croaker, 1 round ray, and 4-5 spotted bass.  I'm really stoked to add bonefish to my lifelist!

First cast bonefish. (species #494)

Second cast spotfin croaker.

More bones.

We put in some good time before and after sunrise trying for corvina, but they didn't make an appearance.  I caught several mackerel on my LC 110 though, which was entertaining.

Next up is kayaking Mission Bay.  Maybe trolling for corvina will the be ticket!

As Verne said, great photography and congrats on the bonefish!

Those tidepool critters are too much!  I might have to buy a micro-pocket rod and just have it in my glove compartment for times like that.  lol
You can't catch them from your computer chair.
