Soupfin and Sevengills! (1/2)
« on: January 03, 2018, 06:06:07 AM »
Were nowhere to be found last night... Ugh.... such a long drought since my last nice shark.

Every bait was picked clean.  Appeared to be lobster, bass, eel and smelt bites.  Super low tide coming in quick with ZERO cabbage in the water and small surf.  Perfect conditions to land a big Sevengill, but the big stuff apparently don't like perfect conditions.

Oh well, the big Zero for Squatch and I once again.

Until next Tuesday....
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Sounds like the session Denny and me had Monday night, except Den got one fast/hard pull down.  My guess is it was a leo, but I would have been stoked for him to put a kitty on the sand   :)

Thanks for the conditions report. They will show up again, and we'll be ready.  ;)

At least you didn’t have to deal with kelp monsters. They’ll start biting again next month, on a Thursday.

This ^^^^
I’m almost now convinced that our definition of perfect conditions and perfect conditions from a sharks perspective are somewhat different. If you think about it, our definition of “perfect conditions” is based on what is comfortable and convenient for us. No cold wind to make us miserable, low surf so our rigs stay put and a shark is easier to get onto the sand, no salad so we can keep our bait set and avoid kelp monsters, etc...all of which is meaningless to a shark or fish.  It’s rare, if ever, I have a good night or day when “conditions are stellar”, hence my saying, “conditions are so good it’s tough”

Binh and I skunked out last night too. Had one legit bite. Mack head was sliced and crushed. Maybe a grinner?? Bait was dropped a few seconds after I pushed the star drag fwd. LOTS OF SALAD. Drove us away from one spot, only to find it at another spot. Stay home, service your reels, and make some new rigs. Rain forecasted next week. It has begun :'(
