Started the day not knowing if I would be fishing solo or not, so I decided to try somewhere I have fished before, but not for some time. Minus tide in the afternoon is nice for gathering intel, but not usually my favorite for fishing.
Turned out Tom was able to make a miracle happen at work and ditched out while the bosses were in a meeting.
He hit the bar, while I surveyed the surroundings. Turns out the surroundings he ended up surveying beat anything I got a look at, but that is another subject.
Beach was fishable upon arrival, but I somehow found myself with no way to cut bait, so I enjoyed the view until Tom was ready to fish. Again, not the best view available, but we aren't discussing that subject. Remember?
Weeds were medium. Big clumps sometimes, not much other times.
Bite was slow, as expected. I got an eel, and missed one possible bite. Tom got a slammer, but it was a swing and a miss.
I did finally end up getting a small seven gill. 68" of raw power. Told Tom I had a contender on, but he thought it was just weeds. I finally convinced him and he grabbed the camera and pliers.
Pic is on his camera, and I don't have it yet. Sounded like a long day at work for him, so maybe later.
I ended the night with a small calico, and cut out early to avoid the freeway closure on my way home. They had the signs up, but no signs of work going on as I went through.
