This report has inspired me Chip! I partially have material on hand to start making some rigs. I have b 250lb and 400lb wire and some 3X 11/0 circle hooks. Gonna put an order for some heavier duty 3ways and barrel swivels. The ones I currently use my not be enough and I don’t want to find that out the hard way.

I have the Baja Special loaded with 80lb braid topped off with 80lb mono and the 6/0 loaded 100lb braid and topped off with 100lb mono. Will order some 200lb mono for rub leader. Even jerry rigged a bait release for the for the drone. Charging up the battery now and hopefully test it out tomorrow at the park near me. Will also order a couple of extra batteries to ensure I can get a few baits dropped. I’ve accepted there’s a chance the drone will take a dunking, but it’s collecting dust anyways!

Here's the good news: You don't have to worry about flying out a massive piece of bait 500 yards. I'm dead serious about only being 40-50 yards off shore. You drop at 100 yards, which is nothing, you're good. If they're around, they'll find it. Here's more good news, I've got a couple of spare batteries and a car charger, so save your money :-[

Personally, I'm going to hand cast. I pulled the trigger on a new Penn Fathom 40 Star Drag and a new Penn Battalion 12' Heavy. Supposed to be at Walmart next Friday ;D

Surf forecast looks good for Saturday. If it holds, and my gear comes in, I'll be down there early trying to learn how to cast the thing. This spot isn't like any other I've fished, seems to do better on a falling tide, and the big boys don't seem to have a problem eating during the day either ;D

Hmm... I’ll start tossing out a bigger bait on a 2nd rod (tax man gear approved) and see what happens.

Curious, the beach you fish have a major drop off or are they just there regularly. Not sure how shallow they come in. Most of our beaches down here are very shallow.

Thanks, I ordered two of them. I saw those and was not sure if I was going to get #3 or 3/0 from the title, will find out.

I've had that happened too many times and unless I'm targeting a specific species in a given spot I've turned to running heavy gear. With hammers and tigers in 4ft of water in Florida, 8ft tippers inside the reef in Japan and 10ft+whites in the break in socal it's hard to throw light gear in hopes of a beast but you'll get shunned for it at the same time and not be able to fish with certain groups or be included in contests.

Earlier this year when I was sticking with casting gear it was skunk or spooled every time for a good 3 weeks and that was on proven casting gear.

The Calicos somehow took over. Just about every weekend I'm on my buddies boat wackin them. If not boat then I'm fishing them from land.

That shark passion is still in me , it just needs to re surface.

I go through phases, last year I was all pumped on catfish, in the beginning of this year I was whooped on freshwater bass. Oh and tuna is always a priority. It always changes.

But the long rods have sat quiet for an abnormally long time. Knowing myself, when I fish them again I will get all jacked up on it and that's all I'm gona wanna do ;D

As of now I do wanna fish long rods as well as all other sorts of sh!t but right now the Calicos still have me by the balls ;D
