Death to rat fur, More progress
« on: September 03, 2017, 10:56:26 PM »
Finally got around to getting the materials together and replacing the wood on Kitty.

I hate rat fur!

Cut several sections of marine plywood to replace the bow, front deck, side, and rear cross deck.

Going to place and attach them tomorrow then remove and begin the coating process. 2 coats of epoxy to seal then a non skid paint.

Once these are done the large main deck will need to get done later since I am out of wood.

Also need to fix the bow light which isn't working but the bulb is not blown. May just get an LED rendition.

A bit of a hack job but never did this before. Working on the port side stoarage then pre mount and begin coating.

All the rat fur is stapled down so lucky I keep up with tetanus shots.

Flickr is a PITA!

The peeling rat fur has always bugged me. The old livewell/storage compartment was rotting fast. Washing after the last trip the fur was coming off in droves and exposing raw wood. What fur remained was "gritty" like it was full of sand or salt crystals.

Wow!  I'm having flash backs to the Square Boma!

Looking great Jim.  I can't wait until you are all done with it and back on the water slaying fish!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

The advantage with gutting it like this is to optimize the layout.

The trolling motor was installed the way it was because of a reinforced bow tip. Since I am rebuilding it I can tweak everything for better fit and maximize bow storage.

Not a quick job by any stretch.

Progress but nothing finished. Bunch of scrap and rotted pieces. The nasty one in the center was the storage compartment lid

Cut replacement control panel, mounted trolling motor and drilled holes, removed panel to mount bow chair.

Need to drill holes in the bow for cleats, rod holder, and fish finder mounts then fix the bow light.
