Solo sesh armed with some sweet Shelter Island macks. Lots of water movement tonight, so, I was expecting an action filled night.
First bait hits the water around 8:30pm. Whipped out my phone for some Words with Friends action and my rod does the 7gill bounce. Grabbed the rod and quickly wind in the slack and set the hook once the line came tight. A real quick bend in the rod and my line goes slack. I reel in my line to find my bait totally shredded. I guess I set the hook too soon. Didn't give it enough time to eat. Rebait and sent it out. Sweet, 10mins in my sesh and already got a grinner bite. Stoked!! 2nd bait soaks for about 5mins before it gets rocked. Rod almost falls out of the sand spike. Same deal, I take in the slack and set the hook once the line comes tight. I get a nice drag peeling run and a sh!t load of head shakes. Feeling very soupie. Been a while since I've caught one of those. After a relatively quick fight, a 65" male soupfin slides in with the surf.

He was still pretty green, so, I was only able to get 2 pics and this was the best one. Slowly climbing up that leader board!!
