World Records and Shark List
« on: February 03, 2017, 07:58:37 AM »
There is one shark on here that I am positive we have crushed numerous times just on our boards alone and one of us should have an IGFA ATWR!!!

I also saw that the biggest 7-gill for the IGFA is only 204 pounds or so?  WTF?!?  Time to bring a scale down to set the record straight.

Guess it's harvest time. Maybe I can get Chris to do the jaws for me.

My game scale goes to 330 lbs. Need a cradle though.

Mine had to have been easily over that 204.

Getting it off a remote beach to be documented is a whole logistical nightmare alone.

Even the Tope Sharks were only quoted as in the 70# range for the IGFA records.  I KNOW a few of us have crushed that one.

Logistical nightmare... yep.  Steve and could barely move that shark a few feet on the sand.  I couldn't imagine trying to haul it a half mile or more away with guts in tact!

Of course it bears repeating that the shark will not be cooperative and are well armed. Where the hell would you take it anyhow.

The other thing is the beastly one are likely pregnant females so do you kill 70 seven gills for a record?

Here is an WON article on a 322 lb off a boat..

Current WR sevengill is 208 lbs 81 in length and 44 in girth.

Although a 322 lb one was caught in San Francisco Bay in 2013 that was supposed to try and get certified. Although I can't find the length I saw it somewhere once. I believe it was 115 inches long or thereabouts.  After almost 3 years with no update, it's probably safe to assume it did not get certified. Based on those measurements, our community has put up many world record class sharks over the last couple years.

I agree that the logistics of getting a 250-300+ shark off the beach, finding a large enough certified scale etc would make it almost impossible to certify one from the beach.

If you goto the California Dawns website, be prepared. It's sickening to see the number of sharks he catches and kills on his charters.

Like to see you moving down the road with a shark in the hatchback, Jim.

Really don't need a record bad enough to kill one personally.

Is that length measuring to the tip of the tail or the fork?

May be interesting to see if ours beat the girth measurement.

I would bet you, Ray and myself all had a 7 with a bigger girth than 44".

I know my 107 was definitely greater than 44". I'm sure any of the ones over 100" we have landed probably were.

Holy crap boss!  I almost forgot about your 107!

Damn, that even makes it that more impressive!
