Diamond in the rough (6-13)
« on: June 13, 2016, 11:02:45 PM »
First day of summer for my boys. They've been bugging me to take them night fishing. Found two 3lb boxes of squish near the bottom of my chest freezer in the garage. No more shortages for me😀 Still in primo condition too!

Double pinned squish hits the water at 6:30. It soaks for about 20 minutes before the clicker screams. I put the reel in gear and let my boys take turns winding it in. I eventually had to take over as it was too much ray for them. It fights like a bat then it doesn't. It threw me off. Diamonds definitely fight differently. My boys nearly lost it when it came into sight. They almost dragged onto the beach for me. Lol!! Had to reign them in when that big ol' tail started swinging. It was a PB for all of us for sure!!

It was all quiet after that. A couple missed take downs and that was all she wrote. While soaking baits, the boys collected all of the dead jellies they could find.

We finished the night off with a roaring fire.

Awesome Diamond and I'm digging the bag full of Jellies!  Not quite sure what they go for per pound, but send the kids into the grocery store with that bag asking for a refund.  lol
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Awesome catch. My boys still do the same thing,  going nuts over big fish and jelly collecting, and they're 12 and 13. Great session.

Awesome Mike!  As much as I love catching fish, the best outings are with the kids when I rarely even get to wet a line.
That diamond is a huge bonus!
Can't wait to get my kids out again!

They really wanted to bring them home, but I convinced them that tossing the jellies in the fire would be more fun.

* Apologies to Jeff Foxworthy*

If you convince your children to toss the jellies in the fire, you might be a redneck.  ;)
