I went fishing Monday because I was pretty sure on Tuesday, I was going to be working late and had to get some things done at the house afterwards. Around 8:00 I get a text from Steve to head up to the Back Pocket Spot and no excuses. We were working on a few hours sleep the night before and my wife was not expecting me to leave but Steve shamed me into going for at least a few short hours.
With my wife giving me stink eye, I bolted out the door armed with all my gear from the night before. Got there to Steve soaking baits in lake like conditions!
We fished and changed baits time and time again with only tiny bait stealers cleaning out hooks for us. I just grabbed my phone to check to see how far Jim was in front of me on the boards when my reel starts screaming! That's the right kind!
It pulled all the tricks in the book to get off, but we finally got our hands on her and noticed something funny.... This girl has gone to war a few times the past few days!
The devil girl was measured out at 66.6" and had her lip pierced with 3 hooks.
We cleaned up that grill of hers and sent her on her way.
Only hit we got and I actually packed it in fairly early. Steve fished about 10 minutes longer, but I saw him heading to his truck as I was leaving, so he was done with it.
Not a hot bite like the night before, but I'll take it! Thanks for letting me catch the fish last night Steve. I'm not sure if you saw me sidle you when you paid homage to the fish gods or not.
