Gnarly. Did you have to take any meds or antibiotics?

What's a good jig to cast at it? And how much Neosporin to heal my thumb after trying to break it off?

Hope your buddy's family is safe. Gonna take a few rolls of Bounty to soak up that mess.

Crazy.  My wife heard about it before I did.

Haha same thing here. My girl found out first through some FB feed. My jaw dropped when she told me. Reality set in when I saw the USCG footage. Hurts to see all that hard work literally shattered in bits and pieces. But glad to hear everyone made it out alive.

Rich worked his ass off getting that boat dialed in. Bummer to see the dream end. Hope he can bounce back from all this. Lots of good memories shared with good friends.

It is possible to replace just the ring. You would need the same ring from a donor guide. The process can be tricky. I've shattered a few rings attempting it. Safer bet to have it replaced. Shouldn't cost no more than 20 bucks parts and labor at any legit tackle shop.

DB move on the SD boat. Its their waters remember were only guests. Better to have offered a case of beers and some burgers than to saw em off. Also I know its hard for locals to take it up with the corrupt government so these actions unfortunately are what's gonna happen. The visa/permit money doesn't really make it to the folks at San Quintin AFAIK.

On another note the seiners have been doing a number on the yellowfin sending what's left down and out of the normal "grounds" thus forcing the SD fleet inshore. And again, almost useless to complain to the Mexican government cause they're busy raking in the dough.

My 0.02.

When I yak'd LJ on Sat my eyes lit up when I saw kelp finally growing on top. Turned out to be a garage door sized clump of eel grass floating by.  :P

Some of the better shots of the boat I've seen. How does she ride? Hopefully the next trip will take care of the hospital cleanliness.

Saltwater Personal Craft Fishing Reports / 7/17 LJ dawn patrol
« on: July 17, 2016, 10:21:06 PM »
Quick kayak report.

LJ launch at dawn. Bait everywhere early AM. All you want macks in all sizes. Micro sized bonito mixed in.

Trolled around for a couple hours. Dropped metal on meter marks for mostly dink rockfish. Did snag a sea hare. Also had a bat ray curiously swim up and hang out for a bit. I waved, it stayed, it was love at first sight.

Other than that very little action all morning. Yellows decided to make a PM showing from the reports. Oh well. Did end the day with a meal-for-one sugar bass. I can't complain.

Give them a call and see what their tank feeding schedule is. The kids will love it.

Try a small bait cage with the sabiki. You can buy them but I've seen homemade ones built out of tea balls, drilled pvc, etc. Fill it with catfood. You'll attract a school in no time if they're in the area. I also cut my sabikis in half so they're easier to manage and because I'm cheap.  ;D
