This has been an unprecedented year in the world and has slowed to halted many shark fishing activities during the peak times. Prehistoric Soul will be here when you need us. Gotta hold your rod. It's everyones rail and both crew and people will be moving around. An obstruction on the rail is also a safety hazard.
Mack heads on a local sportie sounds like a great way to feed sea lions.
On offshore trips when we spend the night on water guys would throw chunk bait ( whole side slab or steaked macks ) and let it slowly sink. Lots of blues and makos taken that way but then we didn't have sea lions stalking us. On island trips I've also seen guys throw out live macks with a slash on it's tail. Wounded soilder I think they called it. Those did as good on sharks, fish, and sea lions about as equally.

This biomass of fish is pretty big. Big concentrations on the border, the pipe outside the green tanks, PB, NW corner, and off DM/TP... 14 fathoms right now is the universal depth it seems. Each concentration is moving fast though so by midweek I wouldn't be surprised if it spreads outside Oside if not already there. Just some current dope for ya. Good luck!

Good 15-20# reel. I'd pair it with a longer 12-25# or 15-30# "inshore" type rod. Perfect for shore bass/rockfish stuff.
