You can slay the calicos on that!
Prehistoric Soul - 2020
This has been an unprecedented year in the world and has slowed to halted many shark fishing activities during the peak times. Prehistoric Soul will be here when you need us. Read through some old posts and browse some categories. We also welcome you to write any articles that you may feel important to be here on the site. Soon enough, the sharks will return and we'll be back to normal, whether new or not.
This section allows you to view all posts made by this member. Note that you can only see posts made in areas you currently have access to.
Finally we get to see a picture of your "friend." He seems to smile a lot, maybe because he is going to have your hands on his hips later on tonight.
I went Thursday. Some vendors were still getting set up.
Got a good deal on a blue/red SJ90F blank at SD tackle traders ($170 and it fit the bill for what I was looking for) and some rod components for slightly less than normal.
The smaller vendors were neat to see. Local rod builders, cali made lures, joes.
There was more fishing boats than the Pomona Hall boat show. Scout and Robalo turned out with some good looking boats.
Saw a few guys from BD and shoot the sh!t. Apparently I just missed Mike and he was fondling my rod before I bought it.
I spent about 2 hours there and saw everything with a moderate crowd. From following the post on BD more vendors set up and we’re staffed after I left. Saturday and Sunday will be packed for sure and there’s more events and guests lined up.
Long Beach show is supposed to have more vendors from what i hear and the PCS will be even bigger. I’ll be at a couple booths at PCS.
I was really taken back by some of the prices on blanks at SD tackle traders. I picked up a Super seeker baby ulua and thought “this is nice” and put it back when I saw the $750 price tag. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Batson and composite forge produce these coming years for jig sticks and long rods.
What's with the banana Surprised Tom hasn't lectured you on the subject
One of my resolutions this year is to bring more bananas on my boat and fight off one of the few superstitions I’ve followed my whole fishing life. Gonna make my own luck!
Don't do it... You have been warned......
I’ve read into the traditional reasons for no bananas on board and they make sense in the light of pre 20th century voyages and general food storage process. Causing other fruits to spoil quickly on long voyages, bringing spiders and termites, and they’re sometimes the last thing floating in the water after a ship is capsized so seen as an omen.
I heard whistling is also bad luck which I assume is a captain being driven bat sh!t crazy by a mate’s terrible whistling.
What did bananas do to hurt you, Tom?
And keep it PG…
Mike now lobbying for bananas so as to become the chief PSoul banana supplier.
