A little off topic but does anyone know of any type of box that is roughly 8.5" x 7.5"? Even an 8" x 7" box would be perfect. I have a new surf fishing "bag" that meets those dimensions. I want to put all my lucky crafts in one box and am growing tired of using multiple boxes or finding one box that is way too big.

And sasquatch, I use the Flambeau Boxes with no problems at all. They seem more durable than Plano boxes (in my opinion).

I have used it sparingly with an LC. I don't throw them much. It is somewhat whippy, but I like that. Its primary use for me has been as a spotfin croaker rod. Again, not much use this year. It will also wing a kastmaster at mackerel.

Thanks for the feedback. I once bought an 8'6" clarus that was really whippy (for my use at least, great for salmon/steelhead I'm sure). Ever since I've been hesitant when looking at long rods like that.

Was wondering if there was a way to keep the stock treble hooks from rusting? I do rinse off after every session with fresh water. It seems there is a welded ring keeping the treble on. Is it hard to cut off this ring? Is it hardened steel? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! :o

I've never tried to cut it off but I'm sure a tough pair of dikes would do the trick. After that you can add an Owner split ring (or split ring of your choice) which would allow you to change hooks a little bit easier.

I have a norwest special. I dig it.

I feel like it might be a tad whippy for what I plan on doing with it (throwing the LC). Have you used it for halibut or just perch?

]This will be a quick report since I am on my way to work right now. I was able to hit the surf with my buddy Bob who I haven't fished with in forever. Today, like most days was all about throwing the lucky craft. Not much love today except for a donkey perch that I caught and forgot to measure. He ate the lucky craft flash minnow in less than 2 feet of water.

On a side note I have been looking at picking up a new surf rod and Bob let me cast with his Lamiglas G 1311.

That rod is awesome and I am 90 % sure that I will be ordering one. Unless I splurge buy a Norwest Special at work today lol
