The fisherman in me is going with 6' (I know I know it's hard when you don't have a camera man)

Slow at the shop.. Boss gave us the day off.. Losing my mind I decided to take a trip into home depot to see what I could get myself into.. Having paid around $50 for my last sand spike and needing another one I decided to give it a shot and this is the end result.. I'm calling this my 30minute prototype for now..

Took another swing at the catfish thing last night.. As much as I hate fishing for those grimy bastards I have a pretty decent little pond spot where they fight harder than any other catfish I've ever caught.. But.. Averaging between 6-8lbs never capped that 9lbs mark..
....Maybe I'll stick to bunko??

After a whole lot of looking around and not wanting to spend too much money I finally pulled the trigger on this guy for some big bait dropping.. I'm really hoping it pays off.. Just not really sure how to launch it in the surf.. Should be a painful learning experience though..

Getting over the skunk I was facing I headed down to SD to go fish a spot I've been wanting to check out for a minute.. Got there at sunset and peak low tide.. Casted out the 11footer and kept getting the bait thiefs on it.. While casting I looked down and seen something real quick that made me like a b!÷?#.. It was the glowing eyes of a little leopard.. So grabbed my light rod and went to town on the child abuse.. Leopards, stingrays, shovel nose all night.. 1 croaker and this little guy on the 11'..
Nothing crazy but I needed to get back to basics and get the skunk off.. Some of this crap has been over complicating fishing way too much for me..

Shot out again to the south OC yesterday hoping to settle a score with a leopard that flipped me off a while back.. Got out there pretty early hoping to beat the suffers.. Parked to a stroll out to take a gander only one surfer.. So I shot back to the car to grab my gear and by the time I got back there were literally 10 surfers.. They freaken multiplied in the water like freaken grimlins dude!! So I just set up next to them for a while thinking I was in the spot I wanted to be in.. An offshore wind picked up so I decided to head out to the end of the jetty to float a balloon rig out since there was nobody out there.. Sure enough I go to grab big Bertha and head out sure enough a group of people got there before me so whatevs.. I went ahead aimed thee ol' surf rod at some rocks and hoped for the best resulting in a while lotta nada.. My uncle did land a nice sea turtle checking one off the endangered species list.. He was released unharmed though.. Beautiful day knew the odds were stacked against me but a bad day of fishing beats a good day of anything else man..

Hearing quite a bit about the breakaway casting cannon and doing some research and decided to go ahead and order more one.. Still being a negative nancy and always a sceptic I decided before I'd mount it permanently to my rod I'd take to to a local football field and do some before and after tests on it with my 11' moderate fast offshore angler and a 6oz torpedo weight "or cigar weight"..
Without cannon: I averaged 60 to 75yards no bait..
With cannon: Goalpost to goalpost or over 100 yards without bait..
I know your gonna say it cause I would too "that's cause it bounced".... Well... Sorry Charlie but I had to dig the weight out of the ground each time so there was no bounce..
Sorry for there not being any pictures but it's been to much of a pain in the @$$ to figure out and I'm lazy..

Huge sceptic on the strength of the pulley rig so I never wanted to try the break away clips until... One day at work I was staring off into imaginary fishing land and had an epiphany on an old rig with a break away twist.. So from your guys' experience which brands do you trust to release the bait the best??
