General Board / camping and fishing in the Tehachapi mountains
« on: April 03, 2021, 10:53:21 PM »
https://tvrpd.org/parks-facilities/brite-lake We should have a trout plant this week and the bass and crappie fishing is starting to pick up just off the 202 in Tehachapi. Tent camping and overnight fishing $26 Partial hook ups 30 amp A/C and water $31 $5 day use to sunset parking fishing is free with license we do limit to 5 fish take. We do have Very limited full hook up spots for $41 a night book early for pavilion events and group camping.

I have been hired as 1 of the 2 new Lake specialist taking reservations for camping at the lake. I am working with the also new Camp hosts trying to create a place where fisherman can have fun within reason of course 24/7 and working on catfish plants but there are some big cats in the lake and Kayaks are permitted to fish until sunset but nobody can see kayaks at night so at your own risk at that point there is no on water lake patrol. No gas motors the lake isn't big but big enough for good brood stock year round and well away from the crazy city life. They try to enforce a 5 fish limit to prevent overfishing.

Fishing Talk / Black Sea Bass Season
« on: December 09, 2014, 11:16:48 PM »
Black Sea Bass once the Leviathan for the Southern West Coast anglers to pursue tackle and bring home for families to feast on has been Protected from sports fishing here in Calif for over 30 years now can no longer be over looked as a sustainable healthy population any longer. They are very prolific along our coast islands and offshore banks once again along with many other species that were long over looked for proper fishery management by our DFG of the past who flat shut them down. As a New sustainable fisheries era begins and species are being highlighted  for consumption I believe that a seasonal tag in a slot size should be implemented for the 2016 fishing year after carefully compiling the FACTS for breeding season and size to maintain a healthy population both for the species and for the balance of the surrounding population that may start to decline as the Black Sea Bass population continues to grow. Thoughts comments and other views are welcome.
