Breaks In the Weather (12/27)
« on: December 27, 2021, 07:41:03 PM »
It's so disappointing  to see all this rain over the holiday break even though it is much needed.  The crazy winds just make any trip near the ocean a chore to fish in the boat, so I decided to make a trip and look for shoreline critters instead.  I also had a gift to drop off to Dave, so it seemed a perfect opportunity to get down there, especially after seeing the bandit destroy my yard.

I started fishing at 7:30am.  Not ideal tides, but it is what it is.

Long story short, I lost a dozen bass for multiple reasons from late hook sets, to surprise bites, to short bites.

I did catch 9 bass though.  6 of which were only 8-10 inches and the others were 12-14 inches with only one being legal.

I found a hollowed out bug on the shoreline.  It would have been a 4# model if there was anything left, but it was just shell.

I had one crazy good hit, but it caught me off-guard and I never got a good hookset.  It wound up getting off in the grass, but the swimmy told the story.

I was ready to head to Dave's when I found a small area with a bunch of willing biters!

Not only that but each one kept getting bigger than the next! (Even if only by a 1/2") LOL

Biggest was 14".... which was bigger than any I've caught from shore in quite a while.

Anyway, made a holiday Hand-Off with Dave on the way home and now trying to figure out how to handle this Bandit in the yard without alienating my wife and daughter.

Well, thanks for reading and until next tide...

You're doing better than me and I'm actually trying to brush up on my spotty tactics.  :o If only they were as dumb as whitefish.

Love how hard the spotties pull.

I know that spot, ratting you out to Nicky and Phong for poaching their hole.

I found those poachers in my spot after my shoulder surgery.  LOL
