I heard they might have passed even closer recently…too windy for me to bother this weekend.

you are a gray haired vagina, go get them

If I wanted a 7 hour trip for some penny flavored meat I’d wine and dine you this weekend buddy, but I think I’ll stick to the sand for some decent tides.

ARod says if he doesn’t do a good job they will fire him, sounds like his last brain cell is all revved up and ready for training camp!

I just need to see the fins end their playoff drought. All I have wanted for…decades…

You really don’t f around at BPS. My trip the other week was $5 for chocolate covered peanuts. Though they didn’t have the Kalin’s grubs I was looking for…

Wow, awesome!! Congrats to her.

A couple coworkers are obsessing over a local striper spot that’s popping off. I scoped out the spot at low tide yesterday and will hit it this weekend in the evening. I hope I can get a little bit of Theresa’s mojo.

Gross!

Glad you're recovering well Verne!

Good to see you out on the boat. Interesting to hear you go south to PL/PB, nobody really talks about them. Loma makes sense, PB looks a lot more barren on maps though.

Glad you did better than I did today. That water looks nasty.

Saltwater Boat Fishing Reports / Boring and Bumpy 5/19
« on: May 19, 2024, 01:32:06 PM »
0600 launch. Windier in the morning than expected. Bumpy right out the gate and stayed about the same with 5-10mph wind all morning. I wanted to record more underwater footage going toward Newport.

Really don't have much to say. Got one bite early on, jack sh!t for the rest of the day. Footage shows the bass weren't around. Reasonably clear water today, 10-20' at the bottom with a decent blue tint. Still cloudy so could have been better. Saw some marks here and there but they were mostly junk blacksmith and smelt, some señoritas...didn't see any bass at all except for two spots. Rough! Just like the ride back to the harbor. Bird activity became more apparent as the morning went on.

No pics, footage isn't really worth posting. Good for knowing the bottom composition, but no sick school shots or biters. But if you wanna see some shaky footage of cruising past empty scattered rocks and telephone poles, then you may persuade me.

Time for a nap.

5 captains and 15 fish woof. Always felt as a deckhand that the most skilled charter groups always had the toughest days, and the newbie groups always had the crazy bite. Glad you had a great time, sounds like a cool unique trip.

Glad you found a few! Didn’t quite get to your 400th species but all those are pretty cool and unique.

get abrazx of however it is spelled great line

Got a spool of 12 per your suggestion a while back. I was a bit perturbed when it couldn’t hold a uni-uni leader connection for sh!t, popped 100% of the time while cinching the knot. Although I tie a different leader connection knot now I amn’t so sure of it. I think I still have like 170 yards of it laying around though if I ever sum up the balls to try again.

Bummer about….well literally almost everything in this post. Hope the fresh air was worth it at least.

Not much talent you have to get so many bites and land very few fish.

Put a stinger hook in the tail, that will fix those short biting SOBs.

I was pulling stingers a couple months ago and I got fed up with the short bass.

I was actually pretty stoked while watching all the short biters on the rod tip, knowing I was getting a ton of bite footage without having to take time to unhook fish. I was thinking about just running a teaser on the camera rod next time but would hate to see the playback of a trophy fish destroying the teaser. Still a toss up whether I do that or not.
