So my cool fish billy I made years ago finally busted on a Yellowtails head last year. My other billy's were quite lame compared to that, so I figured I would try and restore it and make it look like the gaffs I just finished.
My original issue, was I used a pine dowel to slip into the bill as a handle and wrapped that handle. This time I wanted to use something a little bit more sturdy.
Unfortunately after digging out the old rotten pine inside, I couldn't find a new hardwood dowel to fit in it, so I decided to use a good hardwood tool handle and modify it.
It fit like a glove!
Ready for a paracord wrap... This time I used epoxy to water seal the loose seal spots.
My Turkshead knot was not really coming out well, so I stuck with the style I used for my gaffs. More functional than fancy, but it is starting to look good!
Time to really seal out any water getting inside the handle.
Sealed the cap with some black eposy and added the wrist strap.
Done. Now it's time to give some fish some serious shampoos to test it out!
