Conditions were epic. Small Surf, No Cabbage, New Moon, Fresh Macks, Incoming Tide, Torrey Pines Money Spot... What else could you ask for?
Line dropped and went to check the slack. Big old guitar took the bait for a swim into the skinny, but I got him!
Bugs were crawling big time tonight. It's always sad throwing nice bugs back into the ocean.
Got a funny bounce and grabbed the rod. Big heavy hit and the line loaded up. BOOM! First Fall Sevengill of 2018 in the books!
73" Female
Not too long later and I get another hit, but the line goes slack. I grabbed the rod and ran down the beach trying to gain on all the slack. I must have run 70 feet before the line loaded up and I sunk the hook home! I almost thought it might be a small soupie, but quickly realized it was a big old Saddle Back. This Carlsbad spot is hot!
Steve kept getting these evil creatures...
He did end up with a Calico, but he had his chances. His rod jumped big time twice, but let go before he could get to the rod. That could only mean that Pinoyfisher will be hitting things up hard here soon. Mission Beach was happening last night! Glad to get another one for the list and maybe start seeing some more slide up on the sand!
Until next Tuesday! Happy Hunting!
