: 9:1 Turds to Calicos (11/20)

I heard of Yellows inshore and BFT offshore, so I had to make a guess what I was going to do and decided to stay inshore.

No mackerel anywhere, so I trolled a Rapala around for nothing and all of a sudden, a 6.6' Great white was running right at my Rapala as I was reeling it in.  I have to be honest, they still catch me off-guard when I see one.  All of a sudden, I turn around and get startled by an 8 footer swimming on the other side of the boat!  I turned on the GoPro and stuck it (attached to the end of the gaff) into the water, just to f@cking spook the bastards.  I looked around and couldn't find them, so I switched up to ball bouncing.  That didn't work as usual, so I went to casting the 6" plastics with quite good success!  The bass were swimming all over, but most of them were pretty small even though they all went for the big baits!

They ruined quite a few plastics.

My biggest of the morning was a legit turd roller.

I caught 9 turds in a row before finally getting a Calico.

I saw tons of calico swimming around, but the turd rollers were just so more aggressive.  I was done with bass and needed to start heading home, so I made a big loop offshore.  I could smell fish in the wind and came across a slick full of scales.  I look to see what I thought were dolphin, to realize it was foaming tuna!  I rushed over, but they were just ripping and I would get one cast on them before they sunk out.  At about 6 casts, they didn't come back up and were gone.

On the way in, I dropped down for some bank perch and called it they morning.

Anyway, I hope to get one more run out before the wind and swell picks up, but I'll probably be stuck in the bay or trout fishing.  lol

Thanks for reading and until next tide!

The whites sure do like you! Good bassing. Pulling up on clouds of scales is always cool…

It's always funny how small fish attack a bait so much bigger than itself, they are very confident and aggressive :D
