OML I have such envy right now. We (my buds) had a 19" team baha a few years back that was an absolute fish killer. Ran from SD to the Islands in 40 mins no problem. It was amazing but we had to bail water from the boat every trip and was essentially sinking LOL (after a few years of use). Took Tom out once and he was asking what our GPS / Fish finder was and I pointed to a boat on the horizon and said "I think that's the 182" LOL. Bitchen boat man. Have a blast. The "best day is buying a boat and selling it" bs is bs. We absolutely killed it while having a ride and paid itself 10x avoiding party boat rides. Man ENJOY!!!! I really miss those 200+ trips on the boat.

Food & Recipe / Ribeye madness
« on: November 17, 2021, 12:32:02 AM »
Prices are crazy right now ... thanks to whomever.

So... - I've been cooking Ribeye on a grill with a timer for years and always comes out bomb. When you get it down, steak houses can't compete and you'll never order out again. All depends on the size of the cut of course but typically what I get from Ralphs is an inch to a Inch/half. Set my grill hot like 500. Clean the grates and coat with olive oil. I use a double paper towel folded like a paint brush and wipe the entire grate with oil from a cup. Steaks are patted dry and I coat with generous salt. Like make it snow with fine grain sea salt both sides. Once the grill is at temp, drop the steaks in the same direction and set phone timer for 2.5 minutes close lib. Microwave some butter to baste on each turn. Once alarm goes off, quarter turn on each steak and give a butter baste close lib. Timer goes for 2 minutes. Once alarm goes flip all steaks over with another quarter turn and baste again close lid. 2 minute timer on next side close lid. Once that timer goes one final quarter turn and 2 more minutes on the timer. so 2.5x2x2x2 basting where you can. Finally pull steaks off into large tin foil pouch folds to rest individually. I like to add 3 slices of butter to the steaks inside the tin foil pouch to create a sauce with the streak juice as it rests. A little pepper at this point doesn't hurt either. Let sit for 5-7 minutes and pull the steaks out. Pour juices over top and enjoy. Again with timer 2.5min turn 2 min flip and turn 2 min turn 2 min. Should be med if you keep the grill hot.

Thought I'd share since tis the season. My kids always say nothing like your steaks dad when thy eat out, and are alway requesting the ribeye. I've gotten to the point of religiously using my phone timer for the moves. Don't fear fire either. flares help if they happen.

Enjoy!
Dave

Re-Bump ... sorry. This is actually a great easy dish PF Chang knock off.

Just made it again tonight. Healthy sort of. LOL. Enjoy!!!

Actually, shrimp works great too just cook separately and add. I'd do a Cajun seasoning and cut to cubes. add as last step and stir with sauce. Killer for cooking for the new ladies or the 20+ married folk lol.

Funny I clicked on the post link expecting trees like a mexican fan palm tree, which I have. They have gnarly thorns, which I've dumped into drunk at a party. Yes wife tweezered like 30 spikes out of me that night. I stay away now. Hate my palms. Could only relate to a sea urchin experience.

Leo bait 8)

Man actual. Have so many great memories at Del Mar. Dig for crabs, bait the line for BSP, cut them up, bait for Leos. Fun food chain fishing.

I actually have never felt that way. Loved buying a boat and so sad to put it to grave ... like a pet I guess. Hope you find some happiness soon brother ..

Some great feedback and what I hear from docs and PT. Hear the same about the injection stuff ... your body just pushes it aside as foreign substance. Ben you kinda hit it on the head. I had a gnarly knee rebuild like 12 years ago and the recovery was a year, so dreading doing that all over again. Was the most painful thing I've gone through physically. At this point can't even walk through an airport to see my folks in Hawaii so have to get this done. Miss fishing with y'all too so that's a major driving point. Damn blue fin just passing me by too lol ... Damn these decisions suck big time. Mike i hear people regret not doing it sooner. Ugh lol. Keep those bendos a plenty guys! Looking forward to the next Bat Fight one way or another.

General Board / I'm 50 and my knees are gone
« on: October 16, 2021, 11:23:21 PM »
So I haven't been fishing for the past two years cause my knees are totally gone. I'm bone on bone trying to put off knee replacements at all costs. Any of you older dudes with similar issues do any treatments that have worked? I'm in PT now for 6 months which has helped some but any success with injections of any type of treatments? Would love to know. If you've had knees done, what's recovery like? Should I do both? Right knee is way worse thinking one at a time. Any thoughts or experience welcomed
