2023 Garden Thread
« on: February 18, 2023, 04:38:44 PM »
Well, I had no room to make an inground garden, so I decided to get two 4x8x2 raised planters.  In hindsight I should have done some math to fill these things, but I'm tired of always having to overthink things at work, so just decided to wing it!

I took the torch out to kill the weeds and grass that was going to have to go anyway.

It was definitely a 2-person job that I went in solo for no other reason than to be left alone.  lol

Nice and shiny! I put the cement pavers down so water can drain, but also to hopefully keep out those pesky gophers!

I originally thought this might be enough, but 3 runs later with this same amount and it's still not full.

This is close as it's going to get...  Now to wait out this frost so I can start planting the crop!

I'm also doing Japanese style succulent pots.  If anything, it gets me out of the house and away from all the girls for a short time.

I need to get started and get the ground tilled up and fertilized, hopefully March will have better weather for planting. Nice variety of succulents, they will grow pretty quick 8)

Should've went to the Miramar landfill and got some soil. It's free if you shovel it yourself, a very nominal fee to have it loaded into your bed. I get mulch there for my fruit trees.

Yep, kits I got from Amazon.  You have to weed through the same kits for more money until you actually find the great deals.  :)

I had to put 4 more 3 cubic foot bags in.  I can't even plant yet as it's too cold to germinate any seeds.

What closet space? haha, no room (or space) at the Inn over here.  I tried germinating them in the garage, but only the snow peas germinated.  The cukes and squash are still dormant.

Pumpkin is way ahead of schedule...  This garden just exploded and everything is tough to keep alive in the heat!
