The mud marlins in the bays and harbors are creatures of habit. Doesn't matter what time it is, you just have to have water movement, out or in. Nice job, with the shark skunks recently it looks like I need to practice to represent team VC in the next SNBF!

BTW is that swimmie a 5"? If so I'll have to call your "legal" halibut at about 20" or so. Still nicer than any hali I've pulled in, in several years!

Nice, you did better than me today. Got my second skunk of 2015, however I did get a non-hit bite off. Noticed my long rod slack, checked it and I had no weight, no bait. I think I saw what looked like a GW about 300yds from shore thrashing and semi jumping. Either I hooked a dolphin or a GW, either way you did better than me Steve!

Got to the water at around 4PM a nice fill was taking place, and salad was a non issue. Surf was... unpredictable, mostly small waves but a few huge swells were sent through. It was slow, really slow, we had a few takers that didn't stick on the longs and finally at 8PM I get my small skunkbuster.

That was the last fish seen all night. On Tuesday I did a bait run to Redondo, but our fresh macks didn't help us tonight. While at King Harbor I managed some beautiful blue perch.

This week is dry, hopefully next week is mo better. Tom hope your back gets better soon, I need some soupies to make me jelly.

I'm off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of grin. Hope the small surf today makes for less of a kelp issue, spot B is going to be the target tonight.

Sorry you struck out, last time I was out I saw a drunk in a new mustang swerving all over PCH...he was pulled over by CHP within minutes.

No live liner. By the way do you like how much water seems to get inside even though they say it's watertight? ;D It's never much but every time I see some I go "oh Penn." Also sports chalet has some cheap 60$ 15 ft Diawa Rods which mine has done great service. After the first eyelet bent I hacked off the rest of them and wrapped some Fuji's around it, now it is great.

What reel is that? A Spinfisher V?
Yeah it's Spinfisher V 9500, my cheapy replacement for my LX that was drug into the surf early last summer. Not a fan of big game spinners, but this one has put many 7s on the beach, and many big bats. Built like a tank it is.

So since I went solo tonight I bought an appropriate camera, man I can't imagine someone to put down a free fishing trip. Well that's my buddy. Arrived to great conditions,  minus the outgoing tide.

Tossed a squid head out on the light rod in hopes for the now non-existant surf tractor, didn't take long for one to respond. About 36" hard to tell with the slack tape.

Then I had the slow pull on the long. Set the hook, no fight again, until the skinny, with the rolls and the thrashes, again with a heatbreak. It wasn't big, but a 7 none the less. Well around 7:15pm I get my shot again, make sure to lay the hook again, and again, and again. Not a biggie, but a grinner, solo, none the less. My 15' rod, girls going surf fishing!

She was hit by bigger models on the way in, pictures don't show but that was not the leader.

Shark Hunter's old stompin ground put out, beats a skunk I expected :D.

Funny they choose people who obviously are geared up in a manner that would show they're not your average poacher, when the piers are always full of violations. It's like they could just have a DFW agent at each pier and rake in enough revenue to have more enforcement. Still have not seen DFW in over 5 years, which is a good and bad thing. Good because it's never fun to be hassled while fishing, even for legitimate reasons, and the bad, well that's self explanatory! Side Note: I love Morays, but I have never had one on my hook so I may be biased.
