My nephew was visiting and he's never gone fishing, so why not... We hit the Bahia as every other spot that had bonfire rings were taken. Started a fire and casted out 2 long rods with mack and a critter rod with shrimp.
Lots of peeps out fishing. Saw at least 4 groups. I doubt they were any from here as none had rod tip lights... Lol!! We got a late start so we were stuck 2.5hrs before peak low. Not looking good, but a nice fire and marshmallow roasting helped a bunch.
Actually didn't take long to see some action. Got 2 round rays on the critter in just a few minutes. Had a few dropped baits on the long rods before one finally stuck. Been a while since I heard some decent drag rip from my reel. Handed off to my Lucas as he was the only who hadn't pulled on anything. A couple of minutes later, a decent butterfly ray hits the sand. He handled the long rod well and refused to let me finish off the ray.
I called it not too long after that, as the tide was bottoming out and boys were getting cranky from being tired. Nothing spectacular, but my boys will never forget these nights.
