SD conditions?
« on: March 25, 2017, 06:38:20 PM »
Anyone have eyes on north SD or see good weather over there? I'm residing in Temecula and on the other side of the hills. Wind was blowing pretty hard an water churned up at oside pier last night with very few macks caught ( we got the only two I saw come over the rail in 3 hours). Want to do a bait run but not waste a 40 minite trip there.

I came down, I was told "we're going fishing" lol. It's not bad in the parking lot.

Nothin. Wind wasn't too bad but the fish weren't cooperating. As soon as I dropped my sabiki I got a couple quick hits but missed them. That was it. About 3 hours of trying for nothing. I never saw anyone pull anything but kelp over the rail. Guys by the surf got small croaker and sngf

Made bait last Thursday 3/23 at shelter island. Got about 30 in 2hrs. Using only a single hook setup since I always seem to get tangles with sabiki rigs. Mike went on Saturday and got skunked. Seems like hit and miss right now.

Just got back from SI. Saw 3 or 4 macks caught but didn't get any. Snagged a ray from a lady and threw it in the freezer.

I caught my Macs throwing the glow stick rig using a 3 ft. leader with squid. Most were caught further out on the outgoing tide on the right side of the pier. Most of the macs were medium to mini size.
