Long lasting cough ...
« on: June 14, 2015, 08:57:16 PM »
Ugh ... have a cough that won't go away. Both me and my 12yr old have been hacking since March after a baseball trip to AZ. We've taken him twice to doc for pics ... both times nothing shows / clear lungs. My turn tomorrow. Feel like I have Pneumonia or Stage # whatever of the bad stuff ... almost drowned last night in my own juice. Ugh ...

Fun times rant ...  >:(

I had walking pneumonia a couple of time over the last 15 years.  Sounds like it could be something similar if it's not a respiratory infection. Go to the doc.

Hope you guys start feeling better.

X-ray clear ... go figure ...

Maybe Whooping Cough? Had a nose culture that was fun. Will know more in a few days. Tom let's hug it out bro.

Love paying a doc to say ... "I dunno what you have" ...

Finally went to urgent care today after getting really shaky and lightheaded.
Turns out it's walking pneumonia. Got some meds so hopefully it'll be gone soon.

Dang that sucks. Take it seriously and get well. Lotsa rest.

Kinda wish I had something concrete in a diagnosis.

Both me and the kid are still coughing, though not as frequently, so its slowly getting better. Bronchitis, pneumonia, whooping-cough, TB etc ... all ruled out.

My unqualified guess is mild form of coccidioidomycosis (desert spore / valley fever), which is just being stubborn and won't resolve. Mild cases present themselves as bronchitis or pneumonia (the more sever with fever). At least .... dats what da internet tells me.

But of course what do I know. It's the shoulders shrugging doctors who keep cashing my checks.  ::) ::) ::)

Definitely could be Dave.  Damn, I didn't realize it was still going on.  Hopefully you start feeling better soon.

As for the Valley Fever, it has a strong possibility.  My friend and I picked VF up in the San Joaquin valley when we were fossil hunting when I first moved out here.  I had what I felt like was pneumonia but the doctors all said it wasn't.  My buddy had it worse than me and finally a doctor confirmed he had it and got a hold of my doctor to test me.  Sure enough, I did also.  4 months of suckiness and an itch that used to travel across my skin at one point that was just hell.  For some reason, doctors don't want to diagnose VF.

Hopefully you heal up soon and I will catch all of your surf sharks for you.  ;D

Sorry Dave!
I was hoping since you hadn't posted again that you guys were doing better.
Maybe you need a second opinion?
Hope you and your son can kick it soon and start feeling better!

Prednisone seems to have knocked it down pretty damn good.
