Any black powder experts?
« on: February 22, 2017, 03:52:58 PM »
About 25-30 years ago my late Grandpa and I built a .50 cal black powder pistol together from a kit.  It was a lot of fun and a special memory for me.  He's always had it hanging on a wall in their den.  Well last weekend while visiting my Grandma she said that she wanted me to have it so I brought it home.  What I'd like to do is take it apart, clean and polish it, and reassemble it in working condition as a project with my boys.
Do any of you have any experience with these or know any good sources for info?
It looks like this but the fit and finish is not as nice.
(I edited with actual pics of my pistol)

I unfortunately don't but that is a great idea to do with the kids!
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Thanks guys!
Tim, I'm up in VC so that's a little far for me, but I'll look for a similar thing locally.
I updated the first post with actual pics of my pistol.

Can't see the pics but I can do it. My grandpa has 30 or so years experience messing with black powder toys.
Keep it tight
