After that huge morning catching bat rays, I was stuck to doing garden work before my upcoming surgery. Not the most ideal conditions, but it needed to be done as I would not be able to do it for a while after my surgery.
I was definitely hurting big time, when Steve called and said "I'm going out shark fishing... you in?" My body said no way, but my mind was thinking of catching a nice shark in the surf today would put the biggest cherry on top of this awesome day of fishing on Saturday... I'm in and I'll see you at 7!
Conditions were beautiful with some bigger sets crashing through followed by super flat conditions. No weeds to speak of and it was just screaming of a huge shark to b caught!
We had a bunch of eel and bass hits before Steve finally got on the board.
The baits would not even stay on the hook after 10 minutes as little sh!ts kept plucking away at them and cleaning the hook in no time. Steve finally got one to the sand to see what one of the culprits looked like.
Unfortunately, that was it. Just bait stealers and not a single big bite. Oh well, you just don't know if you don't put the time in to find out for yourself.
I also forgot we had a game warden roll up on us. We were all legit except for maybe a few open beers on the beach, but he checked everything and was pretty cool. I love when they are out checking.
I left with the skunk and am paying for all of the pain today, but yesterday was a mighty fine day in the surf and I'm all good with it.
