Drove down from OC  last night and checked a few spots before heading to the GG spot. Happened to meet 1morcast downthere.  :D. So many baits stolen, never saw the nibbless.ended up losing 2 big fish. I can only imagine they were big sharks. So much weight behind them ! The first one shook off after I had him inside the breakers . Next one worked me hard and ran into the reef breaking my 80ib shock leader. Felt I had both so close to being landed! Such an amazing feeling knowing that I had a true beast on the end of my line and crazy adrenaline rush but kinda devastated I couldn't seal the deal. Gonna haunt me for a long time. I'll be back down asap.

No seaweed up here , for our session at least. Everyone was south at hb for the airshow. North beaches were pretty empty.

Got up early and hit beach 1. First cast and landed a nice bonito on the 11' carp rod and 10ib leader. Jacob caught a mack on the croc next and Kate followed up with a double on bonito and mack on my home tied double fly  / metal combo with the 13' carp rod.   after a couple hours we were stocked with fresh sexy bait and ready to hit spot number 2. kate had to go to work and was really bummed out. She wants another shark bad.  Header out and set up camp. we both tossed out bonito heads. Took only 12 minutes before I get a pull on the senator.    another hour gos by and Jacob and I start perching with light gear. I happen to look down the beach and see the jig master Sabre combo bend over hard enough to bend the sand spike and get near horizontal. I yelled over to Jacob and he got to it just as it was half way out of the spike.  As I'm reeling in to go help with the tailing I hook up and after a few runs land a near 3' SmoothHound. Quick release and land jmans Leo. needless to say he was pumped! His first shark in probably 5 years.

Midshipman is a common fish up north but pretty uncommon here. 1 have only caught 2. Both under bridges in backbay. Surprised to see this Leo had 3 in its belly. The Leopard shark tastes great . Just have to remove any red bits and soaked in a bowl of water with salt ,vinegar and little milk. Deep fried it . Rolled in flour and dipped in a simple batter. Old bay and tajin was the seasoning.

I want to try those eels. Heard you just gotta boil off the stinky fat layer then it's good meat. A skull trophy would be cool too
