SD Surf 9-9-2014
« on: September 09, 2014, 08:51:15 AM »
]This will be a quick report since I am on my way to work right now. I was able to hit the surf with my buddy Bob who I haven't fished with in forever. Today, like most days was all about throwing the lucky craft. Not much love today except for a donkey perch that I caught and forgot to measure. He ate the lucky craft flash minnow in less than 2 feet of water.

On a side note I have been looking at picking up a new surf rod and Bob let me cast with his Lamiglas G 1311.

That rod is awesome and I am 90 % sure that I will be ordering one. Unless I splurge buy a Norwest Special at work today lol

Nice piggy!

There is nothing like trying out new fishing gear, even if it is only borrowed.  PM me your addy and I'll get a sticker in the mail to you.  8)
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

I feel like it might be a tad whippy for what I plan on doing with it (throwing the LC). Have you used it for halibut or just perch?

I have used it sparingly with an LC. I don't throw them much. It is somewhat whippy, but I like that. Its primary use for me has been as a spotfin croaker rod. Again, not much use this year. It will also wing a kastmaster at mackerel.

Thanks for the feedback. I once bought an 8'6" clarus that was really whippy (for my use at least, great for salmon/steelhead I'm sure). Ever since I've been hesitant when looking at long rods like that.

Yeah, no problem. There are lots of salmon rods that are longer but not so whippy. Something like a bobber and egg rod.
