pair of 8s 3/5
« on: March 06, 2016, 08:51:10 AM »
With the horrible conditions I decided to get my fix at the catfish place. Would have done freshwater bass but didn't feel like driving to LA.

GF and I got there right at dark and I tossed out a fly lined hot dog.

About 20 min later I got picked up. A few good runs and slid this guy up the boat ramp

Weighed in at 8.9lbs

Got him back in the water and tossed out another hot dog chunk.

Got a little bait stealer sunfish which is a -1

Tossed it back and sent out another hot dog.

Picked up again, good runs and here came this one

Weighed in at 8.3lbs.

Another -1 sunfish followed bringing the total fish count to 0 ;D

Got destroyed by the bait stealers for the next half hour and called it quits.

Fed the rest of the hot dogs to the ducks and tossed some chunks in the water to fatten up the cats.

Nice ones Eric!

So, are you going Oscar Meyer here or splurging on the Nathan's famous franks?
You can't catch them from your computer chair.

Ive been using hot dogs for quite some time now and have dialed in the Ball Park beef franks, they seem to do best ;D

Dang, I wish I had a good catfish hole around here, I love catching kitties!
Eric, There's a pond near my Grandma's house where we use hotdogs for the bass.  There's not many cats in it, but once in a great while I'll get a nice one.  I found that turkey dogs worked better since they sink, the beef ones I tried all seemed to float.  :o

Chad have you checed out lake casitas?

I believe you live near by, some serious hog bass and cats in there. They even stock trout.

Search Sherwood lake and westlake lake, they are right by you. They're a couple of housing lakes right next to each other, I guarantee they hold bass and or cats. A reservoir is right next to them too.

Thanks Eric!
Been to Casitas once. Took the family up to put around in a rental boat.
Haven't heard of the other two but I'll do some research.
Thanks!

It was just the one from the sesh before this one that didn't fight. I assumed it was due to the low water temps but guess I was wrong, these two fought just fine  :)
