Well, Steve and I decided to hit the Soup Spot and timed out a few hour window before it rains. We get there and set up. 10 minutes later a shady character appears out of the dark coming down the beach to us... yep, it was Where'sMyBeer and he was somehow shocked to see Steve and I there?! lol
I wanted to at least give the new hooks a first trial run and see what I think. Me thinks those hooks make mackerel on them look pretty small! They are perfect sized for Bullet Tuna though. I had some good hits on the bullets, but couldn't stick them. This new hook is truly bass proof!
As the tide started marching in, the swell started to increase too. We look over to see Steve at his rod with something at the other end. At first we thought it was weeds, but then the tail action started and we knew it was the right kind. After a healthy fight, I got my hands on the tail and drug up Steve's April Contest contender!

Not sure what those marks are on the side, but it looks like it might have found reef.
Pretty Stocky for under 6 feet... (My damn camera is on the fritz... time to look at something new and waterproof)
We spent the next hour and a half getting bass bit with no other real takes on the bait and called it quits. The tide was getting damn high and the rains started. Perfect time to leave, but it's always a successful night when a shark is slid up on the sand! Nice work Steve!
