2023 Fishing Goals?
« on: January 02, 2023, 12:10:41 PM »
I’m gonna do it this year. Gonna get my thresher and bluefin from the Mosquito. I’m mapping a milk run for the winter and spring that will help me scout water for threshers while also giving myself shots for halibut and deep drop sablefish when the threshers aren’t there.

And I wanna change my mentality a bit in the summer to do inshore once a week and offshore once a week, all things permitting, so that I don’t drive myself crazy skunking out on pelagics like i did this past summer, and I can further build my repertoire of bottom critter spots.

Leaving on Wednesday for Puerto Vallarta, hopefully start the year with a load of cool new species.

Might also book Miami for December, but we’ll see how things play out.

What are y’all looking to do?

I got invited to fish Acapulco, Virginia Beach, Washington, and the Jersey Shore next year...  Now I just need to decide what I have the money for.  lol

Have fun in Puerta Vallarta!  That sounds like a great trip as well as a possible Miami trip!

I'll pipe in later with more of a plan later, but I'm going to try and make the most out of things this year.

Maybe a solo trip to Cabo? Been spending too much vacation time in the hospital the last couple years. I deserve it.

You definitely deserve it.  You also need to visit your cousin and do some salmon fishing this year.

Those sound great, can't wait to see the reports!

I'm hoping to get on some pike this year and maybe some north Idaho channel cats.
My biggest goal is just to fish more.  Most of last year I didn't fish because I was focused on helping the kids fish and catch stuff.

I'm finally going to try deep dropping for weird stuff this year also.  I can't wait to see what's down there.

Yep. That should have been first on the list.

WSB and yellowtail in the same day from the inflatable.

Get my boat built.

Fish for fun instead of making it a chore. I pushed myself way to hard to be on the water every chance I had chasing a list of fish when I could have benefited from half those trips being dedicated to rest or chores.

I'm gonna accept the fact that I could use some waders.
