Had a family trip planned to BB with the kids and grand daughter. There wasn't much time to get out and fish, but I had a few hours every morning to give it a shot. I wasn't sure where to fish as I've always fished from my boat when I was there, but did a trip around the lake to scope out where the locals set up.
I forgot the worm blower, but still had some good old fashioned gear to get the job done.
The water level was LOW!!!!
The edges were all iced up and it was colder than a witches tit out there in the morning!
The only spot to get a rod holder in that wasn't frozen over was at the waters edge through the ice!
Day one, absolutely nothing... but I did see a trout puddle out in front of me so I knew there were trout in the area! I'll be back the next day to try and figure them out since I didn't see it until I had to leave.
Day 2 and the lake was PACKED with anglers figuratively compared to Saturday. I did get my spot and got to work.
I was watching these guys next to me cast out the really terrible way by casting and holding the back of the cork handle on the cast like a fairy wand, but was casting 3x as far as I was since they were launching giant water bubbles. Well, it was all about the distance because I've seen them catch 4 next to me.... How humiliating....
Well, I figured I would try one more time on Monday morning, but the wind was HOWLING and the lake was a white water brown mess. Almost impossible fishing conditions, so I stayed in by the fire instead. Oh well.
I took the day off for my birthday to get out fishing, but of course there's a small craft, rain and wind, so I'm just nursing my birthday hangover instead. Today at 2:22:22 will be my peak since today is my birthday at 2/22/22. I guess I won't get a fish, but I'll make up for it soon enough. hahaha
