General Board / Is someone putting nails in my tire?
« on: October 12, 2017, 06:36:34 PM »
Took the truck to the tire shop because Ive been having to fill up a tire every 2 days due to a slow leak caused by a nail.

Come to find out I have a total of five mixed nails and screws in theBack right tire.

You would think I would at least have some on the front but I don't.

What do you guys think? Is this totally obvious that someone's doing this or is it just the way things happend?

Keep in mind there are a couple people at work I don't get along with and but heads with them regularly. I wouldn't put it past them to do something like this.

I always park head in and back out when leaving the shop.

I'm thinking you could wedge a small nail between the tire and concrete and when you back out it drives itself in there

Gona start paying closer attention who's parking next to me and check the tires prior to backing out...

General Board / Rant
« on: August 12, 2017, 12:49:46 PM »
Told one of the girls in the office she was horrible and called another guy stupid which is an understatement.

Was pissed off because there routine mistakes affect me and I have to deal with it.

Got called in the bosses office later that day.

Was told I went over board and I explained I didn't feel I did. I was then told I was wrong.

He said he was about to give me a raise and told me because of this I won't receive it.

I don't feel like this is good reason to decide to not give me one.

I also feel that most people these days are sissy snowflakes and way too sensitive.

We had a guy recently retire and he was worse than me. An old school thick skinned marine vet and was cool as hell. I was just about the only guy that liked him. Everyone else couldn't handle him.

End rant

Saltwater Personal Craft Fishing Reports / 7/22 Long Beach
« on: July 22, 2017, 11:23:27 PM »
My buddy Chris and I got together for our regular weekend sesh out on his boat.

Headed out of Davies in long beach at about 4:30p.

First stop was the oil rig. Took us longer than usual to get there because it was blown to sh!t and choppy as hell. Pretty much the only small craft out there. We always check the swells, tides and wind before going but guess it slipped by us this time.

Got to the rig and the drifts were real quick. Threw swimbaits, jerkbaits and some deep diving cranks in a short period. Didn't take us long to realize that the bite wasn't on.

We headed to The Wall, a solid sand bass/calico spot where there was a bit more shelter. chris dropped the trolling motor and we began working our way down the wall just outside the kelp line. We worked the top producing swimbaits for these conditions and again quickly realized the bite was off here as well.

During this time we got into it with another boater with a few guys fishing on it. These guys were not in the know and totally clueless. Scum bags on top of that. Maybe I'll tell the story tomorrow...

At this time we headed into the harbor and worked the docks for spotties.

Sun was going down and it was a prime time to be on the water.

Not a single bite between the both of us. These fish had total lock jaw today. Its cool though, just the way it goes and it won't be the last time.

Big difference from the last time we were out which was wide open with fish on every cast, dont think I reported that one.

Till next time...

Saltwater Boat Fishing Reports / Apollo overnight 7/16
« on: July 18, 2017, 05:00:54 PM »
Went out on an overnight aboard the Apollo .

Left out of seaforth at night and headed into Mexican waters.

Daylight broke and we went searching for paddies.

Fly lined sardines were the ticket.

We ended up with over 100 yt and 3 dodos for 21 anglers.

I had 9 or 10 yellows and one of the dodos.

One of the guys caught a key chain blue shark which I unhooked for him. I was amazed on its vibrate blue color.

I've already eaten half the dodo

Saltwater Boat Fishing Reports / Wide open 7/8
« on: July 08, 2017, 11:26:56 PM »
Fished the rig out of long beach on my buddies boat and it was wide open Calicos, cuda and macks.

Just about every cast we were getting hit.

We fished mostly deep diving cranks, jerkbaits and some plastics.

Been getting out once or twice a week on the boat. I stopped posting a while ago, kinda sick of the whole uploading photos thing.

I've been posting on instagram here a there , and will have some photos there a little later.

If anyone wants to click up I'm eric_fisherman1984

If your not familiar with it, it's a good way to keep on top of what's going on in the industry, lots of local reports people upload from personal craft, shore cattle boats and on.....

General Board / Flag thief
« on: July 03, 2017, 05:36:51 PM »
I fly a large American Flag on the front of the house year round.

I also have a smaller one (about 12x8") on the front lawn near the tree.

I caught some fat kid walking away with the smaller one and started yelling at him instructing him to put it back which he did. He walked away with a frightened look on his face as I continued to yell.

The following day it was gone again.

I replaced it with a new similar one and  when I came home from work it was gone again.

Pretty sure it was the fat kid.

I know where he lives.

I'd like to catch him one more time before paying his dad a visit.

Slayed the bass this morning, nothing of size unfortunately.

Got to watch them smash the fry right against the rocky shoreline which was cool.

Met another dude, real cool passionate fisherman. Now I have an insta gram account, not sure why we didn't exchange numbers...

Had an encounter with a loud mouthed nut lady that hates fisherman.

Went home took a nap.

Ac is cranked up and it's like an ice box.

Gona hit up a local shop shortly and fish bass again tonight.

Not sure why I posted this.

I debated posting this but am so impressed I cant help myself.

Been 3 days since I've gone

At Walmart standing in line

It was coming and coming now

Made it to the stall and let it go

Looked down afterwards and it was a solid 2ft long, all one piece w/ serious girth

That is a safe estimate, at first I called it at 2 1/2. Most likely about 2 1/4 though

I didn't have my phone to send the gf a pic but did leave it for the next guy walking in ;D

Fishing Talk / Tonight
« on: March 03, 2017, 05:55:28 PM »
Strictly top water frogs tonight

Got a couple local shallow water spots that hold some big bass. Today's high temps will defiantly have them activated. Hitting two spots. If I don't recap later tonight then I was likely arrested ;D

Saltwater Boat Fishing Reports / Long Beach 2/25
« on: February 26, 2017, 08:29:43 AM »
My buddy Chris finally got off his wacky work schedule and hit me up.

you wanna fish? Hell yeah....

He wasn't able to get the baby sitter till 10am so we got a late start.

Launched out of Alamitos and shot straight over to the oil rig.

I kept things simple and just brought 3 phenix M1/Curado set ups and a bunch of hammers.

Tons of mackerel around and it was hard to keep them off our swimbaits.

Did stick this little calico

He upgraded his fish finder

This one has a ton of more features including a down scan pictured on the right side. a lot more detailed and you could see the big kelp stringers as well as other structure.

Pretty slow on bass around the rig so we headed to the wall.

Again, lots of macks around but chris did manage a couple small bass on the hammers.

Slow overall here, (its now mid day) so we headed to hunington harbor to work the docks.

I got one good hit, set the hook and pop. Clean break in the line telling me I most likely had a nick in my line. In recent days I was crawling plastics over the rocks in the fresh. My own fault for not checking/putting on new top shot.

Chris got a solid pound in a half spottie

Slow overall here so we headed to a spot that's usually wide open but this fish are usually on the smaller side.

We got there and sure enough it was wide open on sand bass and calicos

Constant hook ups and a bunch of doubles. All lil guys but it was pretty fun.

Was starting to get dark so we headed in.

Nothing of size this time but it was cool, felt good to be on the water.

He fishes the SWBA & SBS tournaments and asked if id like to fish em with him.

Pretty excited about it.
