Hit the surf solo with hopes of a kelp free beach and low surf. In my haste to get out before 10pm, was working on my car, I leave my back pack with my rigs and extra sputniks. Of course I don't realize that until I go to tie on my 1st rig. By the grace of the fish gods, I happen to have a lone rig in my bucket that I didn't throw away. Fingers crossed!!
Fresh mack hits the water after a sweet cast. A minute later my reel is screaming. Straight pull, no head shakes... bat.
So over the surf bats, but the skunk is off
. Solid fight, feels like a 50". I button down the drag to hopefully end it quick. Back pays for it.
Damn, where's a sand hand when you need one?!! Rig still holding up, so I toss out another mack. Same result. Screaming run. 2nd bat in 10 mins. A little smaller than the first, still a 50".
Lucky to have a couple walking the beach take a pic. Having a decent night so far, all I need is a grinner...
Not one of the "glory grinners", but a grinner nonetheless. Over 45" for sure. 3 fish in a span of 30 mins. Not bad! Recast for some dropped baits and bumps. That was all she wrote. Had 3 locales to choose from, I picked the right one.
