Lines in at 4:15. JayRay, BatRayDre and myself all had a variety of big baits out for nothing. Tried Squish, Macs, BatRay, and YellowTail. Had a bunch of baits come back missing/chewed, but judging by the action on the critter rods, just bait stealers.
Met a couple of locals that fish there a lot, they were really cool, and hooked up with TerraFirmaTackle and some of his crew. Spencer is a cool guy and we exchanged quite a bit of intel. Seems like a large number of grinners have migrated, but there's also word of guys still hooking up to some nice grinners and rays. You just have to remember that it's wintertime fishing and put your time in on the water.
From what Spencer told me combined with what I already knew, it sure looks like the shark population is larger than what we think, especially in The OC. Going forward it will be interesting to see what happens between now and spring especially in a non El Nino year.
Insert pics of keychain leos, a 2' leo for JayRay and the usual sundown.
