I've wanted to try some rock hopping for a while now and Chris getting a few yellows just pushed me to give it a quick shot. I haven't fished the rocks out here too often, so I drove to a few different beaches looking for some fishable areas for the tide on hand.
Most beaches were quite weedy, but I found some less weedy rocks to fish.
It was a great way to start the early morning Father's Day heat that was starting to set in even at 6 am.
I started with the Tady 45 and A9. I had something follow it in, but think it was a seal. Never got a good sight on it, so I'm not sure.
I switched up to a big Optimum swim bait and hooked a 12" bass who flopped off the hook trying to swing it up. (I kept a swivel on for quick change outs of lures and for the spinning reel as it reduced line twist immensely!
My arms started to get tired and my injured shoulder was starting to throb, so I called it quits.
I hope all the dads out there had a great Father's Day!
