Getting back to the Tuesday evening grind lately. Met Squatch on a big tide Tuesday looking for some grinners.
Conditions were pretty damn good and there were a lot of bait stealers. Not sure what was removing heads from the hook, but they were quite efficient at it.
I was using a Frog Tongue sinker for the first time, so there was a slight wobble to the rod when it slipped. This made small bites undetectable from the slipping sinker, but it was worth a shot.
I got my grinner, although I'm not sure how much it counted as it was as big as a corbina and half the weight.
As we were sitting and waiting for the big bite, an officer (or Ranger) snuck up and asked for our licences. He quickly remembered us and for the second time in two trips said "You guys fishing with Mike?". I laughed and said Mike's the Thursday Night crew. Steve and I fish on Tuesdays. hahaha
Super cool guy and continued on his rounds.
that was it. We didn't get a single bite that seemed worth anything, so packed it up early at 10:30 during the dropping tide. It didn't even seem worth duking it out for another 30 minutes because I was afraid I was going to fall asleep on the chair.
Well, that was it. I love the fall crispness in the air as the heat of summer was getting to be a bit much.
