Friday is the only day of the week where I have to go into work an hour earlier than usual. Wasn't to happy about it to be honest. So I did start this morning out at about 4:30 AM.
Conditions were pretty good except that darn nasty swell still. The moon was out and there wasn't to much wind at all. It was really cool seeing the moon shining on the water, almost didn't need the headlamp this morning.
Fished the plastic for about a half hour and got nothing. Switched to the LC 110 FM and about 5 casts in a get a solid strike. Could tell right away that this was a legal Halibut. Started walking her back in and all of a sudden I fell into a deep chasm up to my neck and was able to at least keep the rod and reel up. I was getting blasted by waves this morning. Pounded! Anyways, my line went slack when I fell and I saw the tail come up out of the water and when I got my footing back and tightened the line she was gone.
Casted again and got a nice little strike and this was the fish of the day. Target acquired. Had to get going and called it a day. Be back at it again tomorrow.
Here is a couple of pictures of the butt. Nice colors on this one too.
Lines tight!
