Truck was in the shop and didn't get it back till 4:30. That was messing with plans to hit the bay before sunset, and of course hit every red light on the way home.
Picked up Paul and got to MB just as twilight was fading. Whips out a 1 lb box of squid, and they're monsters
. There's like 7 pieces, and we have 4 rods LOL. Oh well! Kick it and have some drinks.
Nothing much happened for the first hour+ except a few jingles. I eventually had a good run, only to find an empty hook and one less bait in the box.
I text Tom to let him know the spot was dead yet again. Literally when I put the phone down Paul's rod goes nuts. Thought he had a monster by the initial run, but quickly subdued the mid 40's pup. Still a good show since it's been so quiet lately.
Had a fresh cut stinger too.
10 minutes later and I'm on with another good sized bat. Get it shallow and my line fails trying to muscle it up. I've been putting off changing out my 40lb. Guess that's a hint.
Hope this is a sign of better fishing ahead. Bites came once the tide started filling good.
Aloha~
